Portfolio

The main project of this class will be to create a portfolio showcasing your work. It is important to have a presence in multiple media types, and as such your portfolio will take form as both a website and pdf. In your portfolio you should include high quality images / scans / photographs of your projects; written descriptions of your projects; and contact information + a CV.

Additionally, you will create a business card, and "material extension" to your portfolio. Your media extension can be anything you choose – ranging from a laptop sticker, pair of socks, mouse pad, digital "business card", to anything else you can imagine. The idea being that the item "extends" your work and portfolio into a new materiality.

Deliverables

  • PDF portfolio showcasing your work
  • Web portfolio showcasing your work / and or contact info
  • Business card
  • Portfolio extension (sticker, keychain, etc.)

Your portfolio's focus should be suited to your individual practice and goals. For instance, if you hope to work creating letterpress prints, you probably don’t need to make a portfolio that exists in the “metaverse”. Conversely, if your goal is to work in the games industry, perhaps an experimental portfolio rendered in a games engine would be a valuable approach.

Since you will create a portfolio to represent your practice and suit your goals, how can you consider your portfolio as another project in your ouvre?

Your final, fully formatted and produced (coded, printed, and otherwise manufactured) portfolio(s), and your media extension, will be due on the final day of class along with an archived version of your portfolio uploaded via wetransfer and sent to chris.
